My first paying gig in 7 months had me performing for residence at a nursing home in Beaverton, Oregon on Tuesday, September 22.  I was hooked up via a bluetooth headset/mic that was connected to a small bluetooth speaker that a nurse would take from room to room so the residents could hear me.

Some of the sweetest smiles and reactions I’ve ever received took place.  Residence would sing along in their chairs or beds, some of them grooving as best they could.  Some of the best 90 minutes I’ve had during these Covid days.

 

40th Wedding Anniversary this weekend

Just landed a last minute private gig for this Saturday evening.  Going to play for a 40th wedding anniversary at Cathedral Tasting room in Dundee, Oregon.  The happy couple has already requested a Bobby Vinton tune that was their first dance 40 years ago.  Gonna bring my best crooner voice for that one.

Playlist will include some 50s and 60s, and of course my usual set of Elton John, Billy Joel, Beatles, James Taylor, Van Morrison, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and others, along with a few originals to keep things fresh.

Live Mid Week Music

This week in music finds me preparing for two gigs.  Tuesday evening, HomeBrew, will be performing at Velo Cult Bike Shop, 1969 NE 42nd Ave, in Portland’s historic Hollywood District. We play from 7-8:15pm and are the first of two bands.  It’s a benefit for Oregon Special Olympics and there is a $10 suggested donation.  Showing up early is highly encouraged.

Wednesday evening, what used to be my monthly Jade Lounge gig has gotten even more intimate.  Meeting in a home with Jade Lounge band members and friends for an evening of sharing songs we all know, along with hearing some originals.   Should be a wonderful evening of music and laughter.

 

 

Playing Live in NE Portland This Saturday

This Saturday, July 19, I’ll be  playing in front of Cotton Cloud and Natural Bedding on NE 7th and Broadway, under their large awning.  I’ll be there from 11a-1p.  This is all part of the NE Broadway Summer Super Sale.

Just booked Friday Aug. 8, at Cellar 55, from 6:30-8:30pm.  Located 1812 Washington St. Vancouver, WA 98660.   I’ll be playing classics from Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Elvis Presley and others.
