We’re back at it again this weekend for Estacada’s 50th high school reunion. Besides our regular playlist of classic R&B, rock and swing, we’ve added a set of songs from 1965 to stir up senior year memories.
This weekend I perform with the band, HomeBrew. This 11 piece classic R&B party dance band will be entertaining at a couple of private functions. Today, it’s a college graduation and BBQ summer party out in Hillsboro, Oregon. Playlist for this event includes: Al Green, Van Morrison, Chicago, Stevie Wonder, Brian Setzer, Muddy Waters, Steely Dan, KC & the Sunshine band and others.
Sunday, a wedding reception in NW Portland, where we’ll have a “striped down” (colloquially speaking) version of HB. This playlist includes: Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, The Beatles, James Taylor and of course – others.
Looking forward to jamming with my HB peeps!!
It starts with the 11 piece band HomeBrew. We’re creating a party for our fans who’ve asked us, “when are you playing next?” That “next” is December 17. HomeBrew is a classic R&B party dance band that has been together 30 some years. We still have a few original members. I joined the band back in July of this year.
We’re calling this: “HomeBrew’s – Holiday Sock Hop.” We’ll be at Curious Comedy Theater, Wednesday Dec. 17, from 7-11pm. Our first set starts at 8pm. Come early because we are creating a festive event for the entire family. Song list includes, Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, Brian Setzer, Chicago and many others.
Two days later, on Friday Dec. 19, I’ll be back at Cellar 55 in Vancouver, WA from 6:30-8:30pm. Falling in love with this place. Nice getaway at the end of the work week. Looking for a nice date night and wine? Cellar 55 is the ticket.
The following evening, Dec 20, I’m back at Torta-landia in SE Portland. Humble little Mexican cafe styled eatery. This will be my third time in this cozy little corner in SE Portland, just a block north off Foster Road and SE 60th.
My song set for these two events include covers by Stevie Wonder, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Elton John, Billy Joel, Otis Redding, Chicago, Beatles, Elvis, Little River Band and many others. I’ll sprinkle in some originals, too.
All of this in one week, no less!!
Would love to see some familiar faces.
I’ve been rehearsing with a local classic rock and R&B band the past couple of weeks, seeing if I would fit into their musical scheme and I have been asked to join them for their next couple of gigs.
It’s already a loaded band with two guitarists, bass, drums, horn section, harmonica player and keyboards and a killer lead woman vocalist.
But what makes this so great, its just so much fun. First gig is July 12 for one of our guitarist’s daughter’s wedding.
